Delightfully aromatic, with flint, lemon rind, limes and a touch of white florals. The flinty palate shows textural citrus skins notes, with a long and delicious finish.
Reviews: "It’s fresh and intensely aromatic on the nose showing grapefruit, Granny Smith apple, nectarine and rockmelon characters. The palate delivers terrific fruit power and vibrancy, backed by refreshing acidity, finishing long and delicious - 5 stars." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Tasting Notes
Aroma | Delightfully aromatic, with flint, lemon rind, limes and a touch of white florals. |
Palate | The flinty palate shows textural citrus skins notes midway, gooseberry and currant notes in the finish. Firm but integrated acidity. |
Food Match | Pair with grilled salmon or pan-fried snapper, served with Mediterranean-style vegetables. |
Viticulture | Ohau vineyard is perfect for cool climate wine production. Our temperatures drop several degrees before harvest, and the slow flavour development produces intensely aromatic, crisp, fruit-driven wines. The grapes were harvested in late March 2019. |
Winemaking | The aim for this wine is a refined, mineral style. We select grapes from blocks with these characters (this year it was F and G) and winemaker Jane Cooper uses slightly more restrained yeasts, and keeps the ferments clean and slow. Jane ensures the wine shows aromatic vibrancy and weight, and will age well. Prepared for bottling in January 2020. |
Alc/Vol | 12.0% |
